Li Auto was founded in 2015 by entrepreneur Li Xiang as Beijing Chehejia. The company bet on extended-range electric vehicles (EREV) that pair an electric drivetrain with a petrol generator. The first production model, the Li ONE, arrived in 2019, and in 2020 the company listed on Nasdaq under the ticker LI. Today Li Auto is among the leaders of the Chinese smart EV market.
